Latest News and Updates

Club Competitions.  It is good to see that members are playing their matches, but there are still a few that need to be played ASAP.  Please have a look at the Competitions Page.

Muddles was well attended on Friday and followed by an excellent chicken curry provided by Brenda and Liz with Bombay Potatoes by Roo.  Next week there is no supper as there is a home match against Penenden Heath and so Muddles will be at 1730 for a start at 1800.  All will be back to normal on 26 August and muddles will be followed by a BBQ.

Finals Weekend 17 and 18 September.  We want as many people as possible to support the Finals Weekend and to make this an enjoyable weekend for everyone.  On Saturday it has been suggested that everyone brings a "sharing platter" for lunch and on Sunday after the prize giving there will be a BBQ.  We want to make the prize giving a more formal event and request that finalists wear Blazers for the presentations and photographs.  On the subject of photos, France has agreed to be the official photographer and will take photos of the players at the end of each match which will be published on the website for posterity!

Winter Social Programme.  It is important to keep the troops entertained in the cold winter months.  We already host the Hythe Short Mat Bowling Club and have regular Coffee Mornings, but the Management Committee would like to see more use being made of the clubhouse and bar.  To this end, it is proposed that we have events programmed every Friday night throughout the off season.  Examples are: Crib Night, Bingo, Pub Games, Horse Racing, Quiz and Darts.  We would welcome your ideas and also whether you would support the events.  The idea is mainly to get club members together during the Winter.

Christmas and New Year.  I know its the middle of Summer but please put these dates in your diary.  The Christmas Dinner is on Saturday 10 December and we will be having a New Years Eve party with entertainment and everyone bringing a "sharing platter".
Finally a message from Jeremy

" As some of you may be aware, Hythe Bowling Club is applying for Clubmark status. This means, if successful, that we will be officially recognised by our NGB, Bowls England, via Sport England as a club which has proved to be properly constituted and is fully aware of its many responsibilities. The application itself involves many meetings and showing evidence of our constitution/financial standing/welfare/health and safety procedures, amongst other items and may take a few months but it is hoped to achieve the kitemark this year.

One part of the process is that we must both remind all members of the individual responsibilities we all have as mature adults - this is nothing new, just common sense and what we all seem to know and do so well anyway - and also ask all members to complete a satisfaction survey, which is the main point of this message.

Attached please find, for information, four items as follows:-
Would you all please complete the survey which has just 8 questions. You can either print this yourself or collect a copy from the clubhouse on the table by the main door. When you have filled it in, anonymously if you wish, please leave it in Jeremy's pigeon hole at the club by 10 September. The other three items are just for your information to give a resume of what is expected of us all"
